Willow On the Porch

This is one of my favorite photos of Willow On the Porch.  It was taken the first summer after it was completed.  The porch was a place of peace for Willow, she always loved being close to and watched nature intently.

Willow Sunshine - Afternoon in the Hammock

In hammock-on the porch-willow sunshine asleep in my lap-fall wind blows-delightful simple joy. I love my dogs.

I tried to video her with my mangled cell phone - the eye of the camera lens compromised by a puppy tooth.

Time to Go Out!

Pearl and Willow Sunshine want to go for there afternoon walk - I was reading on the hammock. The quality is not good in these videos, because I used my phone, which was inspected by Ms Cleopatra this summer.  She has many interests one of which is in electronics, with a specialty in cell phone technology.

Winter Walk with MG, Willow N Nash by John Garand

Technical difficulties uploading the video.  Follow the link to youtube where it can be viewed  There

It is an eight minute video.  This has the best footage of Willow n Nash performing a bow together and the crow Willow found in the woods.  I recall she crossed the stream and was on a scent trail.  When she would not come when called I noticed her body language dictating she found something mysterious.  She was so curious abou this crow.  I am not sure what happened to it, but it was still alive yet not able to fly away.  I am tyring to remember if there were two crows, one flew off while the other was unable to.  Maybe it is in the video. I spent some time making a place to put the crow under a den of evergreen branches.  Nash was tied to a tree, because his energy would have scared the crow.  I love this footage of Willow and Willow n Nash together on a walk

Apple fun 2007

These photo were taken in September 2007 of Willow and Nash,  we moved from this home, a most favorite place, the following month.   The dogs would find apples from the lone tree behind the house and make a game with them.  I gave them these apples.

Morning Walk : Old neighborhood

This is where we walked this morning, it is where we used to live.  Usually no one is around.  The stream we walk to was full and flowing after last nights rain and wind, it was an awesome storm.  The photos below are views from my bedroom window.  Willow often liked to get on the table to get a better view.  The higher the location the better,  she liked to look down on to the world.  I miss that.

Zoe at 9 months

Photos by Jane Billings

Walk in the rain

Rain today, still this did not deter us from a walk through the woods where we once lived.  A familiar place, no one around except for a hawk and mice.  The streams are still quite low, but offered enough water for a drink and cooling off. Willow Sunshine has learned well from Nash and Pearl how to hunt for mice among the dead tree stumps - I call it Stump Hunting.  I love to watch this activity, their enthusiasm is contagious.
We have not done too much of this type of walk since where we head off into an untrodden forest with no trail.  At least not since Willow grew old.  I had to keep an eye on Willow Sunshine as she would forget to check in when distracted by her prey. She learned her lesson when she could not locate us, a worried pup returned.  Pearl was in heaven as she ran circles around us.  Nash, slower than he used to be kept pace and often alerted the others to a find.  I love to watch as the three dogs work together.  Tails wag fiercely back and forth to alert a find.  Mostly I think they pretend. Now we go home to curl under warm dry covers and a fire.  :)   Maybe another walk this afternoon with friends.

Our favorite place to be,  this porch, and we missed it.  I can tell the dogs did too.  This morning after a blissful nights sleep with the calm wind blowing among the trees in the forest, Pearl and Sunshine took to their morning routine - a rawkus romp from porch to bedroom.  Often when they do this they use my bed as a spring board, so every so often I would get trampled.  My head under the covers, I fell sound asleep listening in a dream state to their play at five in the morning.  I love this...

End of Day

Ben the Chocolate lab joined us today on our walk.  He is a rescue and around 5 years old and just learned to swim last year.

We had company of other dogs today - both were game for chase, here is one who joined our company.

Happy Tibby

I went to my sister's this afternoon to let the girls play.  This was Tibby's reaction when I went inside...

Tibby Never did Jump over the gate, but  think she hit her chin on this jump as the next one, below wasn't as high.

Reina - and Tibby above - Reina is Tibby's houses mate and the one who taught her to ump so high.

Ben and Zoe and The Checker Old Home Day 2012

The Checker in this video was purchased recently by Ben with Zoe.  The car was once owned by Ruth and Charlie Batterman (I think I have that correct.) Hence |The Bats' Mobile" .  I believe the car had never been out of the state, in fact that may go for the town as well.

This was Zoe's first Old Home Day parade - she was 8 months old.

Photos in the montage are by Me, Ben's friend Molly and Jane Billings.
Music is by Gordon Lightfoot - Uncle Toad Said.

Chaffinch Island at Dusk

Sunsets make for great photos.  Too many to post, but here are a few.  Finally a chance for the dogs to run free, no one was there.
